In a recent gathering, Field Marshal Asim Munir, the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, acknowledged the crucial role that Pakistan’s political leadership played during the recent military operations known as Marka-i-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. This recognition comes shortly after his promotion to the highest military rank, which has only been awarded once before in the country’s history, to General Mohammad Ayub Khan in 1959.
The promotion ceremony, held at the Presidential Palace, was attended by notable figures including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the event, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), released a statement highlighting Field Marshal Munir’s gratitude towards the political leaders for their strategic insight that contributed to the success of military operations against India.
Field Marshal Munir emphasized the importance of inter-services cooperation that led to effective execution during the conflict.
