New Zealand’s Deputy PM to Visit Sri Lanka for Bilateral Talks

New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters, will visit Sri Lanka from May 24 to 28, 2025. This diplomatic visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore cooperation opportunities in various sectors including trade, agriculture, education, and tourism.

During his stay, Deputy Prime Minister Peters is scheduled to meet with President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. He will also engage in discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, H.M. Vijitha Herath. These meetings are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, education, connectivity, tourism, and sports.

In addition to official talks, Peters will participate in several engagements with the private sector and media to further explore and promote mutual interests between the two nations. Accompanying him will be three senior officials from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

This visit underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen diplomatic and economic ties, with a focus on fostering long-term partnerships across multiple fields.
